Kantakari belongs to the nightshade family along with potatoes, aubergines, and tomatoes. Kantakari is known locally as a wild ‘eggplant’, with a long traditional use in Ayurveda which uses its root, fruits, and juice. The botanical name of this plant is ‘Solanum xanthocarpum'.
