The botanical name is 'Rubia cordifolia’ and it is also known as Manjith’. It was an economically important source of a red pigment in many regions of Asia, Europe and Africa. Manjistha translates to “bright red.”. The roots of Rubia cordifolia are used in Ayurveda.
